New Year's Eve 2009

31 Dec 08, it's around 2 in the noon, yet no plans for new year's eve. Lack of interest to celebrate. Stayed away from all events/invitations and decided to stay home when the clock struck twelve.

Few hours later, got a call from Shaku, she asked me to join her to Club Cabana for the eve. I was least interested but she was adamant and said she already had purchased passes for me (later I came to know she hadn't *Grr*) With no options left I agreed, we were to start at 7 along with Amshu & Kruthi.

I invited two more of my friends, Dushyath & Nayana, they further got Prema & Vinay along. They were to meet us at the venue directly. Shaku had few of her seniors joining too in the Club. So we totally were three groups of people.

Club Cabana is located on the way to new airport. Thanks to the clear wide road, I had the opportunity of reaching 140km/hour mark. Shaku took a photograph of the speedometer, due to lack of timing we could only capture 130km/hour on the camera.

Passes to Club cabana were 2k/couple which included only Rs.500 worth of F & B. And just like I anticipated, booze was expensive. Thanks to my pre-plan, I picked up a large bottle of Shark tooth on my way, along with some Real Orange juice and few throw away glasses. As we reached Club Cabana, i called up the other bunch of friends to join us in the parking lot, there was a quick introduction session, and here we go.. *Cheers* - *Glup* - *Bottoms up* ! Three rounds of it drove us all talli, thats before even entering the club. I made sure i dont drink much as i was incharge of the wheels while driving back.

The place was crowded, and we had a tough time finding our own people. though we had fun dancing by the side of the pool. We even found people dancing inside the pool! The clock struck 12, Fireworks, chaos all around, everyone exchanged wishes, people who dint even know each other did.

By 2am cops came in to brush away people, we had dinner and left the place. Atleast on the new year's they should have relaxed the deadline.. Sad! We drove away and separated from the other two groups, They probably went home. And the best time for us was yet to come :)

We drove back to the city, the R.T Nagar coffee day was surprisingly open, While we drank some coffee, i got a call from my cousin who apparently had seen me in Club Cabana, she asked me to join her to a private party in Jade Garden. Jade Garden is right next to club cabana, only if she had called half an hour back, I could have avoided driving back & forth 60km.. But not a big deal, the road was nice, my friends were eager too.. We drove back all the way to Jade garden at 3am, club cabana by now was deserted, we saw a burnt car along a fire engine, probably something went wrong after we left the club. Jade garden was still zooming with loud music & liquor, its a privately owned place and aint open for public, its only on invitation, so no restrictions/deadlines. Drank & danced till 5. At 5 people started leaving, so did we.

We drove back to the city, went to Sanky tank to welcome the first sun rise of 2009. It was open for joggers, took pictures till the sun showed up. Finally, after a well spent night, all we wanted is to head back home and get some sleep.

Happy New Year !

Friends

I would prefer friends who may not be smart enough to understand the complexities of the world, but are kind enough and understand me.

"Do you think you can help me earn money ?"

Day 1

I usually meet up friends for lunch, as their offices are nearby. Today we chose a resturaunt called Lazeez, that's at a walkable distance to all of us. The road I took to the resturaunt has a girl's college called JNC (Jyothi Nivas College). I believe it was lunch time for them too, as they crowded the road in bunches of 5 to 8 near various eat outs.

As I was crossing the junction, A girl well dressed stopped me. She smiled and asked me a question, a question that was about to be the lincpin of an entire new story. She asked me, "Do you think you can help me earn money ?". I was shocked at this out of the blue question from a stranger, and wondered what she's upto, I dint know what to reply. After 2-3 seconds I said "gimme your number, I'll call you if I could help you anyway", donno how this question flashed to me, but I think it was the most appropriate reply. Some else would have probably ignored her. I stored her number and walked away.

There could be three possibilities:

1) The girl is in real need of money, and wants a job. Which I think is most unlikely because she was dressed well in quite an urban style, with a bag hung on her shoulders. Most probably a student of JNC.

2) The girl is trying to seduce and service for money. Which again is unlikely, but cant say.

3) Thirdly, and most likely, someone is playing a prank with me.

I'm not going to call or message her. But I will know what she wants by tomorrow.

I reached the resturaunt and told this story to my friends. And they were on their toes to call her up and try their luck. I gave them the number. They will probably try calling her from their office phones.

This way, I get myself saved from becoming a fool, if its a prank. And if she really needs me, I can always get her back. :)

Day 2

The girl was a fresher being ragged by her seniors.

Unplanned, but nice evening =)

Anand's Birthday treat was due. Nanhi, Anand, Shaku and me found it hard to decide upon a suitable place. Shaku got permission from her mom to stay back at my place. We all geared up for a long night out.

Went to Olive Beach. The place was crowded with firangs. We dint like the formal mood there. Moreover its a restaurant with a lounge bar and no dance floor. Chucked it.

Marched to Fuga, we expected an easy entry as we were two couples/no stags. To my surprise.. NO DANCE FLOOR TONIGHT !

Disappointed we drove to Noir in Le Meridian, and found that the place has been shut down! By now we were all frustrated.

After having visited three places without much luck, we discovered that all dance floors are closed due to some stupid litigation on the new year's eve. We wasted enough time hopping from one place to another, and still hadn't found a place to party.

Shaku insisted that we go to "Pebbles" near palace grounds. We were misdirected, landed in the interiors of R.T nagar, couldn't locate the place. It was already 10:30.

I decided not to waste any more time, and drove them all to Opus. Its a goan restaurant. The crowd was decent, we got a nice place to sit. Had breezers with kababs. The ambiance was good too.

At about 12 we moved out of Opus and headed towards Koramangla. On the way shaku spotted a Baskin Robbins store and developed this sudden craving to eat the Banana Caramel Ice cream. We bumped in the stores just when they were pulling down the shutters, and managed to get the Ice creams.. The effort was worth it! Its a combination of Banana flavored ice cream with golden caramel ribbon and banana pieces.

From there we drove to Paramount in Koramangla. This place is open till 3am(like Empire). The roof top section of this restaurant is well made with a woody tinge. A bridge running over the water spring divides the restaurant into two parts. You'll feel you are sitting in a place that's three times more expensive than it actually is..! The food was good. Anand desperately wanted to try Hookah. He tried it, he dint like it, but he satisfied his curiosity =)

Its 1:30 am and we wanted to spend the night out.. Had plans to go to Leela Barista which is open 24 hours. But mom called up, she wasn't happy with the idea and wanted us all to get back home.

We drove back. It was fun to steer through those empty roads at 2am. Stopped for a moment on the flyover, took a picture for memory. Reached home. It was 2:30 and nobody was even close to being sleepy. We did some Jive for a while. Later we remembered having clicked some nice photographs in Opus. Downloaded them on the PC, as always Nanhi was eager to upload them on orkut.

Finally decided to hit the bed at 3am as shaku had work early morn.
Crashed ! Zzzzzzzzz...

Posted from my iPhone.

I am surfing lying on my bed, back against the headboard, a glass of Pepsi on the side-table, a cushion on my lap, and in my palm rests the Apple iPhone. A wifi hotspot nearby let's me access the world wide web. It's the most comfortable posture that I have surfed internet in!
